Sort collections by product metafields

Use a product metafield as the metric in a custom sort type when you want a collection's product order to follow a value you maintain in Shopify, such as a release date or rating. The metafield must first be selected for Ouiteo's background data. Follow the shared product metafield selection steps under Integrations → Shopify → Product metafields, then allow the data to sync.

Create a metafield sort type

1. Open Merchandising → Sort types and select Create sort type.
2. Enter a name and choose Single criterion.
3. Under Metric, choose your field from Product metafields. If it is unavailable, check that the field is selected for background data and included in your plan.
4. Choose the Direction for the values, then select Create sort type.
5. Open a collection from Merchandising → View collections, choose the saved type as its Sort order, and preview the result before saving or sorting now.

Supported metrics include single-line text, whole numbers, decimals, true/false values, dates and date-times. List values, URLs and colours are not available as sorting metrics. The integration page shows how many product metafields your current plan lets you select.

For example, choose a numeric product rating metafield and Descending to put higher-rated products first. Check the collection preview after the selected metafield data has synced. You can also use this saved Single criterion type as a rule in a Priority or Weighted score sort type.
