Assign a strategy to collections

Updated Oct 27, 2026

Assign a saved strategy when several collections should share its ordering settings. If Ultimate Collection Manager is installed, a strategy can also supply membership rules where they are enabled. Existing manual product pins stay with each collection.

Assign one collection

Open Merchandising → View collections and select a collection. If Collection Sort & Manage already sorts it, choose the strategy in its Strategy section. Preview the product order, then select Save. Use Sort now to apply the order immediately when that action is available.

If the collection has not been configured for Collection Sort & Manage, select Configure first. Until then, the Strategy selector, sort settings, segment rows, product groups and sorting preview are unavailable. Configure gives Collection Sort & Manage control of sorting with a Manual sort, preserving the current product order. You can then choose the strategy, preview it and save the assignment. If Configure is unavailable, resolve the reason shown on the form before continuing.

Assign several collections

  1. In Merchandising → View collections, select the checkboxes beside the collections. You can use search and filters first, then select all matching collections if needed.
  2. Choose the strategy in the selection toolbar and select Assign strategy.
  3. In the review, check how many selected collections already use a strategy, have Custom settings or are unconfigured. If unconfigured collections are included, choose whether to create settings for them or skip them.
  4. Choose a Schedule for collections receiving the strategy:
    • Current keeps each existing schedule and whether sorting is enabled. Newly configured collections start with sorting off.
    • Manual enables sorting without automatic runs. Run those collections when needed.
    • Repeat enables sorting on the schedule you choose, using your store's timezone.
  5. Select Apply now if you want the changed collections to run after assignment. Review any plan or data-sync warnings, then select Assign to ... collections.
  6. Check Assignment results for the number assigned and any collections that were not assigned or not started. The result shows a reason for each one that needs attention.

The strategy supplies the shared settings, while each collection keeps its own products unless the strategy's membership rules apply. Later edits to the strategy reach linked collections on their next sorting run.
