Connect Google Analytics

Updated Oct 27, 2026

Connect a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property to use shopper activity alongside your Shopify sales data. Ouiteo uses it for measures such as product and collection views, add to carts and checkouts. You can review these measures in Collection analytics and Product performance analytics, use them in collection sorting, and choose them as filter conditions when building collections or targeting products in Sales Discount Manager.

Basic setup: collect store activity in GA4

Before connecting Ouiteo, make sure your Shopify store sends ecommerce activity to a GA4 property. Connecting Ouiteo reads that data; it does not add GA4 tracking to your storefront.

  1. Create a Google Analytics account and GA4 property if you do not have them already.
  2. In Shopify admin, open Sales channels → Google & YouTube. Connect your Google account, then connect the GA4 property you want to use for this store. You can create a property during this step if needed. Follow Shopify's GA4 setup guide to finish setting up the Google tag and ecommerce tracking.
  3. Check that the property receives product activity, such as a product view or add to cart. If those events are missing, resolve the Shopify–GA4 setup first. Google's DebugView guide explains how to inspect events while testing.

Use the same GA4 property in Shopify and Ouiteo. Ouiteo asks for the numeric Property ID shown in Google Analytics under Admin → Property details, not the web stream's G- measurement ID.

Connect the property to Ouiteo

  1. Open Integrations in Ouiteo. Find Google Analytics and select Connect. If you see Upgrade, your current plan does not include this connection.
  2. Enter the GA4 Property ID you checked above.
  3. Choose how GA4 items match Shopify products. See Choose the item mapping below if you are unsure which option fits your store.
  4. Select Sign in with Google and grant access to the Google account that has access to the chosen property.

After you return to Ouiteo, the connection starts syncing in the background. The new activity data may take time to appear in analytics.

Choose the item mapping

The mapping tells Ouiteo which value in a GA4 item event identifies the same product or variant in Shopify. Choose the value your store actually sends in its GA4 ecommerce events:

Option GA4 item value Shopify value it must match
Default mapping item_name Product title
Custom: Product title item_name Product title
Custom: Product ID item_id Product ID
Custom: Variant ID item_id Variant ID
Custom: Variant SKU item_id Variant SKU

For example, if a product event sends its Shopify variant SKU as item_id, choose Custom GA4 item mapping → Variant SKU. If item_id instead contains the Shopify product ID, choose Product ID. The custom Product title option uses the same field as the default mapping; you can normally leave Default mapping selected for that case.

Check your GA4 item data or ask whoever manages your GA4 tagging before choosing. A different value in item_id or item_name will not match the intended Shopify item, so its shopper activity may be missing from Ouiteo's product measures.

Manage the connection

Return to Integrations → Google Analytics to see the connected property and mapping. If Ouiteo asks you to reconnect, select Reconnect and sign in again. You can also change the mapping and select Update.

Changing the Property ID removes the existing Google Analytics data in Ouiteo and downloads data from the new property. Check the ID before you confirm the change. Disconnect revokes the connection.
